Saturday Art School: Teaching and Learning Laboratory

Pratt Institute has been preparing professionals to lead the field of art and design education for more than a century. Since 1897, Saturday Art School, our teaching and learning laboratory has offered classes to children and adolescents from Brooklyn’s many neighborhoods. Classes are taught by art and design education students who are supervised by faculty. In 2015, Professors Aileen Wilson, Heather Lewis and Librarian and Archivist, Paul Schlotthauer, examined the Saturday School and teacher education archives (1890-1990) and produced a timeline of their findings:
