Graduation Year: 2016
Major: Associates Degree / Illustration
What have you been up to since you graduated?
It’s been a crazy year, way beyond any expectation that I may have had.
Right at the beginning of the year I was lucky enough to score a piece in the New York Times and shortly after I showed work in a World Trade Center street art exhibition. Before summer I managed to get an illustration agent in NY/Australia and have since been working with them on some really cool jobs, basically getting to draw characters and weird stuff for advertising campaigns. Next month I’m super excited to be in Shanghai to paint a street mural there!
Other than that, I’ve been surfing, eating banh mi, watching Rick ‘n’ Morty, and pining the loss of summer.
What did you like best about your time at Pratt?
The fact that I got to indulge solely in just creativity everyday for a few years was something that I found endlessly amazing. I previously never thought I would go to an art school and have that opportunity.
How do you feel you benefited from being a student in the Associate Degree Department at Pratt?
My illustration classes had about four people in them! That was insanely good for getting a lot of direct feedback from the teachers. I benefitted hugely from that.
What advice do you have for current students who may be nervous about their future post-Pratt?
Try not to undervalue yourself.
Do whatever you can to stay working; you never know what opportunity is around the corner.
When promoting yourself, get off the beaten path.
