Special Guest Speaker Laura Salazar-Altobelli, Assistant Professor in the Pratt School of Architecture Undergraduate Architecture program, spoke on “Small Adaptations,” which examines the role of adaptation and scale, within contexts of resource scarcity, climate and sociopolitical crises in the work of salazarsequeromedina at the SoA Women Faculty Lunch and Lecture on Thursday, October 16. With geographically dispersed projects in Peru, Spain, South Korea, and the United States, Laura, a Peruvian architect and cofounder of the collaborative practice _salazarsequeromedina _presented her case for why the practice of architecture requires renewed and nuanced attention to diverse cultural and environmental contexts, the scale of material assemblies, tectonic craft, economy of means and a responsive relationship to its users over time.
Pratt SoA Faculty Kathleen Dunne and Karen Bausman organized the semiannual lecture, which was underwritten by the Pratt SoA Dean’s Office.
