School of Architecture faculty Ruo Jia publishes a new peer-reviewed article “Valerio Olgiati’s architecture of the Future Anterior” on the latest issue of arq: Architectural Research Quarterly, celebrating 10 years of embodied experience and architectural theoretical entanglement with her scholarship. It forms a good pair with the e-flux editorial of hers earlier this year: “Yeah, they were All Yellow” for a special series on Asian Feminist Architectural Possibilities supported by Pratt SoA.
This article is a statement piece after many other dear words to her:
“she is this Inappropriate/d Other who moves about with always at least two/four gestures: that of affirming “I am like you” while pointing insistently to the difference; and that of reminding “I am different” while unsettling every definition of otherness arrived at.”
Trinh T. Minh-ha
“can use herself (assuming one is at one’s disposal) as a shuttle between the center (inside) and the margin (outside) and thus narrate a displacement.”
