School of Architecture faculty Richard Piccolo was honored with an exhibition of over 70 of his travel drawings and watercolors produced while on field trips with the students of the Pratt Rome Program over his fifty-year career as its leader. Looking Again, Richard Piccolo Drawings and Watercolors opened on October 17 at EIIS, the public gallery at the Palazzo Taverna in Rome, as a part of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s celebration of its 45th anniversary.
Evan Douglis, RPI Dean and former Chair of Pratt UA, first saw some of the drawings when attending Pratt’s own 50th anniversary presentation two years ago. He must be thanked for his insight in being able to cross over between institutions to both bring the works to light and to act as an emblem for the accrued knowledge that all foreign studies programs can offer.
Frederick Biehle, Adjunct Professor CCE, and longtime Rome Program coordinator, wrote the introduction to the accompanying catalogue and offered remarks at the opening.
