Associate Professor Erika Hinrichs presented her paper, Small Town Urbanism: Regenerative Models for Farm Worker Housing, at the 63rd International Making Cities Livable conference on Regenerative Architecture and Urbanism held in Riga and Jelgava, Latvia.
The paper was based on a summer studio she offered in summer 2020 that examined two converging crises: the deterioration of small farm towns hollowed out by demographic decline, and the precarious housing conditions of seasonal farm workers whose status has become increasingly complicated by immigration enforcement. The presentation was included in the session Housing, Equity and Community Resilience.
