The work of SoA faculty member Alexandra Barker is among over 100 projects featured in Brooklyn NOW! 26, a public exhibition, program series and digital platform celebrating the projects, ideas, and people shaping Brooklyn’s built environment today. Sponsored by AIA Brooklyn, the exhibition opened April 2 and runs throughout the month of April at the Brooklyn Public Library’s L10 Library for Arts and Culture.

Barker, the academic coordinator of the SoA’s Master of Science in Architecture (MS Arch) and Urban Design programs, designed the City Kids Education Center, a preschool and after-school program in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, organized around a double-height courtyard gathering space illuminated by a storefront window.

Brooklyn NOW! 26 brings together a curated selection of work from architects, designers, photographers, artists, and students across the borough. Every submitted project is located in Brooklyn, and each one was categorized using up to three preselected keywords to help surface shared themes, concerns, and connections.

Throughout April, weekly public programs and workshops at L10 will explore specific aspects of the exhibition’s focus.

The public can also visit the online web gallery to explore all submitted projects in their entirety.
