SoA faculty member Deborah Gans presented Project Continuously Altered on April 2 at the SoA Women Faculty Lecture and Lunch. Her talk explored her work’s central focus: pioneering efforts to reimagine coastal cities’ ongoing response to the escalating climate crisis — including New York City’s recovery in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
A professor in the Undergraduate Architecture (UA) program, Gans leads Gans & Company, which was named a Design Excellence firm of the City of New York and whose work has been exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum and the Venice Biennale.
The semiannual lecture was organized by SoA faculty members Kathleen Dunne and Karen Bausman, and underwritten by the SoA Dean’s Office. Femmes of the Future, a student-run organization dedicated to redefining the role of women in the design industry, provided on-site set-up and logistical support.
