This year’s Scholars in Professional Practice program brought together sixteen faculty and professional practice educators from architecture schools nationwide to explore innovative approaches to preparing the next generation of architects. The immersive multi-day programhosted by the University of Utah’s School of Architecture—allowed practice faculty to connect and share key elements of their programs, courses and ideas on teaching professional practice. School of Architecture faculty Carisima Koenig presented research that critically rethinks the conventional terms of professional practice in order to create meaningful, society-based approaches to architecture and what it means to be a contemporary architect.
