Junior Architects: New Paradigms in Design Education examines the pursuit of equity in architecture and design education in the United States amid widening political divides around race and class. Bringing together contributors to the book and leaders of local enrichment programs, the event will take stock of this work, its histories and its ambitions, and ask where it might go next. It is an opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and consider how more equitable pathways into architecture and design might continue to be built.

Pratt Institute School of Architecture Dean Quilian Riano, contributed to the book through a conversation with  Dr. Harley Etienne, Ohio State University Graduate Studies Chair in the City and Regional Planning Section. The conversation is titled Between Architecture and Planning: Pedagogies for a Shared Future.

Van Alen is holding a book launch event and conversation hosted by Suzanne Lettieri and Anya Sirota, editors of Junior Architects. Dean Quilian Riano will participate in the conversation alongside Cornell University Senior Associate Milton S. F. Curry and Erin Pellegrino from Out of Architecture.
