The Graphic Design Area of Emphasis offers students the opportunity to develop the formal and conceptual skills necessary to respond to complex communication problems. Courses focus on crafting visual systems across two-, three-, and four-dimensional platforms. Projects encourage critical inquiry and collaborative processes through a variety of applications including identity systems, typographic systems, publication design, user experience, interface design and data visualization. This in-depth exposure to the applications of graphic design builds on the breadth of skills and knowledge covered in the core curriculum preparing students to work both as independent designers and in a studio environment.
