A Pratt Writing education doesn’t stop at the workshop table. Whether it’s hand-binding zines, reading manuscripts for a literary agency, producing a podcast, or teaching in an after school arts program, our students can step into the fields they’re curious about and build skills, experiences and relationships to bring with them into life after graduation. Browse the career-development experiences of some past students.
BFA Writing students step into professional writing and arts environments—from literary agencies to TV studios to museums—through internships that connect their creative ambitions to workplace experience and material life.
Fieldwork gives Writing students, both BFA and MFA, the flexibility to design their own path outside the classroom—launching a literary journal, organizing a reading series, partnering with a local arts organization, and so many other variations. It’s a space for self-directed projects that turn a student’s own ideas into real, professional work. Check out what past students have done!
