History of Art and Design Graduate Program
Pratt Institute is an exceptional place to study the history of art and design. The faculty is comprised of distinguished scholars who focus on the intellectual and professional growth of our students. The Department of the History of Art and Design offers three graduate degrees:
- M.A. in History of Art and Design
- M.A./M.F.A. in History of Art and Design/Fine Arts
- M.A./M.S.L.I.S. in History of Art and Design/Library and Information Science

Exploring our degree options, you will find participants studying 17th-century frescoes in Venice, 19th-century Dogon figures in the conservation laboratory at the Brooklyn Museum, and 21st-century performance art as a curatorial intern at the Guggenheim Museum.
History of Art and Design students bring a wide array of experiences and backgrounds to their studies and graduate the program with new knowledge, experience, and a professional network to inform and support their careers for many years.
