Application Instructions

How to Apply

Applicants to all School of Information programs are required to submit the following: 

  1. Online Application Form
    Complete your application through Pratt’s Online Application System.
  2. Non-refundable Application Fee 
    Submit a non-refundable application fee of $50. For international students, the application fee is U.S. $90.
  3. Transcripts
    Submit transcripts from all institutions attended after graduation from secondary school.

    For international students: International students must have all transcripts officially translated into English. Both the unofficial and the English translated version must be submitted. Only students with a three-year Bachelor’s degree from another country are required to submit a World Education Services (WES) evaluation to expedite their application processing. WES evaluations do not include translations. The documents must be officially translated into English before submitting to WES or any other reputable education evaluation service, e.g. your embassy. Students may choose either the Basic WES or the ICAP, but we encourage submission of the ICAP. Students with four year degrees do not need to submit WES evaluations.
  4. Letters of Recommendation
    Provide two letters of recommendation from employers, professors, or others able to judge your potential for graduate study at the School of Information.
  5. Statement of Purpose
    Upload a statement (approximately two pages) describing long-range goals and reason(s) for applying to the School of Information for graduate study.
  6. Current Resume
    Submit a current resume of employment experience, education, technical skills, career highlights, awards, honors, etc.
  7. TOEFL Score (international applicants only) 
    For international applicants whose native language is not English, the minimum required TOEFL score is 82.

We prefer that application materials be submitted electronically, but if anything is sent by mail, send it to Pratt Institute, Office of Graduate Admissions, 200 Willoughby Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11205. Please do not send any application materials to the School of Information Office.

Visiting (Non-Degree) Students

Applicants (US citizens or permanent residents) may apply for non-matriculated status and take up to 6 credits. Those seeking admission as a visiting student should be advised that enrollment in a particular course is allowed only if space is available. Learn more about applying as a non-matriculated student.
