HEOP

The Pratt journey begins with the HEOP Summer Enrichment Program, a four-week residential experience designed to prepare you for academic success and campus life.

Students participate in:

• Foundation art and design coursework.
• College success workshops.
• Campus resource sessions.
• Peer mentorship.
• Community-building experiences.

Participation is required for all incoming HEOP students in accordance with New York State HEOP guidelines.

Each HEOP Scholar is paired with a dedicated HEOP Counselor who provides personalized guidance throughout the college experience. Working collaboratively with campus partners, counselors help students navigate academic, financial, and personal challenges while connecting them to the resources they need to succeed.

Support includes:

• Individual academic planning and goal setting
• Academic progress monitoring
• Financial aid guidance
• Personal support and referrals
• Tutoring referrals and study strategies
• Connections to campus academic and student support resources

HEOP provides opportunities for students to build community, develop leadership skills, and become engaged members of the Pratt community.

Students may participate in:

• HEOP Peer Mentor Program
• HEOP Ambassador Program
• Leadership development opportunities
• Community-building events
• Campus engagement activities

Eligible HEOP Scholars may receive financial assistance through a combination of federal, New York State, institutional, and HEOP funding.

Support may include:

• Federal & New York State Aid: PELL Grant; Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG); Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Grant; Federal Work-Study; Federal Direct Loan
• HEOP Grants: State HEOP Tuition Grant, Pratt HEOP Tuition Grant, Semester Supply Allowance, Commuter Stipends, on-campus housing grant (double occupancy), and selected campus meal plan assistance.

• Students interested in HEOP should apply for undergraduate admission to Pratt Institute and indicate their interest in HEOP as part of the admissions process.
• Applicants who meet initial eligibility requirements will receive instructions to complete the HEOP Financial Eligibility Application and submit the required documentation.

Transfer applicants must:

• Meet Pratt’s transfer admission requirements.
• Submit a completed HEOP Transfer Verification Form verifying participation in a recognized Opportunity Program (HEOP, EOP, SEEK, or College Discovery). Verification of participation fulfills the HEOP eligibility requirement for transfer applicants.

To be considered for re-admission through HEOP:

• Meet with HEOP Counselor: Contact HEOP Counselor Aurora Robinson at arobi802@pratt.edu or call 917.636.3524 to schedule a meeting to discuss eligibility for returning and the next steps. Please note that program seats are limited and not guaranteed.
• Apply for Re-Admission: Complete Pratt’s Readmission Form. If previously dismissed, submit a letter of appeal to the Academic Committee.
• Update Financial Aid Documents: Submit a new FAFSA and TAP application to determine continued financial aid eligibility.
