Associate Professor in the Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment Juan Camilo Osorio participated in the Immersive Dialogues Symposium at the University of Monterrey as a follow-up to last year’s Immersive Dialogues Symposium at Pratt Institute. The symposium, a collaboration between Pratt, the Universidad de Monterrey, and the Centro de Estudios Urbanos y Ambientales in Medellín, Colombia, “explores appropriate practices, lessons learned, opportunities and challenges for collaboration from three cities.”

Babylon Beacon profiled Caroline Ashby, MS Library and Information Science ’09, as part of a Women’s History Month series. “After finishing her degree, she worked at the Andrew Heiskell Braille and Talking Book Library, in Manhattan, part of a nationwide network that provides reading materials to patrons who are blind or visually impaired. Ashby, who worked with patrons by phone and email, and suggested braille and audio materials, credits this experience for broadening her perspective of library services.”

Chair of Undergraduate Communications Design Meta Newhouse participated in the South by Southwest Education Conference for a panel discussion titled Reframing Dyslexia as a Hyper-Ability. “You actually become more innovative in your pedagogy if you think about it as an opportunity, and you think of that as being really good or interesting friction against your … traditional beliefs of how learning should be delivered,” Newhouse said, according to The Daily Texan.

Thought Matter, a New York–based communication design studio led by Jessie McGuire, visiting instructor of Undergraduate Communications Design, received the 2026 National Design Award for Communication Design from Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. “Receiving this recognition while teaching at Pratt feels especially significant,” said McGuire. “The Entrepreneurship Minor has deepened my commitment to helping students connect creative practice with industry and the systems of capital and decision-making that shape what gets built and what doesn’t.”
