The Office of Engagement, Culture & Community (ECC) develops and supports campus-wide engagement initiatives that connect community participation with institutional learning and shared practice.
Community programs create opportunities for connection, dialogue, creative exchange, and learning across roles and experiences. Student leadership opportunities enable students to contribute their knowledge, creativity, and perspectives to campus life.
Cross-campus collaborations bring academic and administrative units, student organizations, alumni, and other campus partners together around shared priorities.

Heritage and Cultural Programs
ECC’s heritage and cultural programs recognize histories, creative traditions, community knowledge, and contributions that shape Pratt and the broader communities connected throughout the Institute.
Programs should move beyond symbolic recognition by connecting cultural observance with learning, participation, artistic practice, institutional history, and contemporary community experience.

Signature Programs

Poet-and-Scholar-in-Residence
The Poet-and-Scholar-in-Residence Program connects Pratt community members with writers, thinkers, artists, and cultural leaders whose work contributes to public dialogue, creative practice, and institutional learning.
We Are Pratt Series
The Office of Engagement, Culture & Community (ECC) works with students, faculty, staff, alums, institutional leaders, governance bodies, and community partners to connect Pratt’s commitments with coordinated programs, relationships, and institutional practice.
Each collaboration has a distinct purpose, structure, audience, and division of responsibility. ECC’s involvement may include oversight, coordination, consultation, sponsorship, staffing, or strategic partnership. Identify the specific role for every initiative.
Pratt Staff Council
The Pratt Staff Council is an elected advisory body that listens to, advocates for, and supports Pratt staff members. Its work includes staff engagement, professional development, recognition, communication, and recommendations concerning the staff experience. Supported by the Offices of Engagement, Culture & Community, Human Resources, and Finance & Administration, the Staff Council provides staff with the opportunities to connect, share perspectives, and contribute to institutional life.
Council members are elected from across the Institute through [confirm current election and representation process]. The Council provides a structure for staff members to share perspectives, identify priorities, and contribute recommendations related to institutional life.

Indigenous Peoples’ Land Circle
The Indigenous Peoples’ Land Circle (IPLC) welcomes Pratt community members interested in Indigenous knowledge, land stewardship, sovereignty, restorative justice, and the ongoing responsibilities associated with Pratt’s Living Land Acknowledgment.
The IPLC emerged from the former Native Indigenous Working Group and continues to uphold the commitments and implement Pratt’s Living Land Acknowledgment through education, dialogue, listening, institutional reflection, and community engagement centered on Indigenous knowledge and perspectives. Through programming, collaboration, and advocacy, IPLC examines Indigenous sovereignty, land stewardship, settler-colonial histories, institutional responsibility, and the commitments expressed in the Living Land Acknowledgment.
