Summer Credit Intensives offer a unique opportunity to bridge classroom theory and professional practice in fields like architecture, graphic design, fashion, industrial design, fine arts, and more. Earn three (3) undergraduate or graduate level credits while exploring new mediums, expanding your network, building a standout portfolio, and gaining the skills needed for your next professional move. Summer Credit Intensives are taught by Pratt’s distinguished faculty of outstanding creative professionals and scholars. Each instructor shares a common desire to fully develop each student’s individual potential and creativity. Our faculty come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds representing the breadth of art and design’s complexity. This multiplicity of views and experiences provides for a tailored education that is as unique as each of the students. Courses include required homework assignments to be completed outside of class hours.

Summer Credit Intensive Courses and Schedules
This immersive course gets you working fast. Develop spatial reasoning through interactive studio exercises, 3D thinking, sketching, drafting, and building physical models. The work is hands-on, collaborative, and iterative. Architecture touches everything: urban planning, interior design, music, health, preservation, sustainability, AI and curatorial practice. Look at design through these interdisciplinary lenses and connect spatial thinking to environment and context. Whether this is your first architecture course or tenth, this intensive is a balance of foundation and inspiration in architectural principles and professional practice. The field is vast. The path is yours. Come ready to make things and leave with clarity about what architecture can be and what you want it to be.

Unleash your artistic potential by developing fluency and confidence in the most essential of all art disciplines, drawing. You’ll learn techniques in observing and depicting form and space from life, and to explore images and ideas from your own imagination. A range of materials and subjects will be covered, as well as fundamental processes such as perspective, light and shading, and figure study. This course will cultivate your visual fluency, providing a solid foundation for further study in design, architecture, and illustration, and will enhance your portfolio and professional skillset.

This dynamic course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fashion industry, from concept to creation. Learn design principles, collection development, and construction techniques in Pratt’s Manhattan and Brooklyn studios. Exclusive site visits such as, industry exhibits and designer showrooms, will launch your career in design, merchandising, or styling.
In this intensive studio environment, students master the fundamentals of drawing and painting while exploring the power of intention, process and personal expression. The curriculum bridges the gap between theory and practice with reflection on historical and contemporary artists to inspire projects. Students experiment with drawing, painting, mixed media, color theory, and composition to expand their artistic vocabulary. Through a combination of guided instruction and independent project development, students receive the critique necessary to produce a strong portfolio. Ideal for aspiring artists, seasoned educators, and anyone looking to elevate their creative practice, this course provides the tools to refine both vision and technique.

Master the art of graphic design and become a visual storyteller. This intensive course provides the skills and knowledge to create compelling visuals for print and digital media. Students learn graphic design language, typography, branding, composition, and concept creation using industry-standard tools, such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. Gain practical branding experience by developing a professional portfolio showcasing unique designs for logos, websites, posters, and packaging. Elevate design thinking and master the art of problem-solving.
