Ruth Alejandra Mora Izturriaga, MFA Fine Arts â13, is a featured artist in the group exhibition Friendship Through Culture, on view from March 1 through May 29, 2026, at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto. Her body of work draws inspiration from Meiji-era kimonos, which concealed vibrant ornamentation within their linings, preserving cultural memory during a period of Westernization. Her studio, SUMO Project, has also created a visual guide to help emerging artists break into public art.
