Changes to Policies Procedures and Fees
Pratt Institute, SCPS reserves the right to make changes to any of the information listed in this catalog when necessary. We make every effort to notify students of any changes in a timely fashion; however, courses are often cancelled as late as the day of the first meeting. For this reason, it is vital that we have the students’ correct phone number and email address on file at all times. Please visit our website for the most up-to-date information regarding course details.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
Students may receive CEUs for any successfully completed course upon request. Pratt adheres to the industry formula of 10 classroom hours awards 1 CEU. Additionally, Pratt Institute, SCPS is an authorized provider of CEUs for the American Institute of Architects (AIA). AIA approved courses are specifically noted throughout the catalog and website.
Pratt Institute, SCPS reserves the right to cancel any class that has insufficient enrollment. If you enroll in a course that is cancelled, you are notified and given the option of substituting another course or receiving a full refund. Refunds may take up to 60 days to process.
Check for Pratt Institute class cancellation messages on local media outlets. Visit our website www.pratt.edu and the SCPS Facebook page for posted notices, or call 718.636.3700. We make every reasonable effort to reschedule classes cancelled due to inclement weather or other emergencies.
This document sets forth Pratt Institute’s policy regarding the Ownership and Use Rights of Intellectual Property created by members of its community. This Policy establishes general rules. Its intent is to act as the default for the vast majority of our Intellectual Property issues. It should be noted that the general rules set forth in this Policy may be superseded by individual agreements addressing ownership of Intellectual Property created in the Pratt community.
Requirements and Prerequisites
Age appropriateness is required in all classrooms. Adult classes require all students be 18+ years of age by the first day of class. Young Adult Classes require all students to be 16-18 years of age by the first day of class. Many courses and certificates do not require formalized entrance requirements; however, advanced courses may list prerequisites or equivalent experience requirements. When required these are listed in the course descriptions. Certificate students, in particular, must be careful to follow specific requirements where necessary.
Pratt Institute community members are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. This includes the Young Adult programs. Prohibited behavior includes:
- Disruptions that interfere with the learning environment
- Threats of safety to self and others
- Foul or obscene language or gestures
- Destruction of property or theft
- Disrespect of others
- Use or possession of any substance deemed illegal local authorities
Student status is a privilege subject to certain expectations. Pratt Institute reserves the right to suspend or dismiss students at any time for conduct that is deemed detrimental to the Pratt community or that violates laws of local authorities. Students suspended or dismissed for misconduct will not be refunded any tuition or fees.
Specific programs are available to international students who meet the I-20 requirements of an F1 visa. For advisement contact our office.
Photographs and Videos
Photos and videos of students and their artwork may be taken for the purpose of promoting Pratt Institute, SCPS programming on our website, on social media and in our catalogs. If you are currently registered for a Pratt Institute, SCPS course and would like to request that your photo or video not be taken or shared, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org so we may advise the photographer during class. All photos or videos are property of Pratt Institute, SCPS.
Supplies and Books
Students may be required to purchase books and/or specific supplies for a course. Supply lists are usually distributed during the first class; however, suggestions may also be listed in the course description on the website.
Grades and Transcripts
Grades are issued according to the type of program courses taken.
Transcripts are available for a fee of $5. To order transcripts, send a check or money order or credit card information payable to Pratt Institute, SCPS along with the following information:
- Name at time of enrollment
- Year and semester enrolled
- Phone number and email where you can be reached
- Contact name and address where transcript should be mailed
- If using a credit card include the expiration date and cardholder name plus the house number and zip code of the billing address.
