Beyond guiding faculty research, supporting Provost’s Centers and Research Accelerators, and managing a portfolio of competitive grants, the Office of Research and Strategic Partnerships (ORSP) works closely with the President’s Office to coordinate Pratt’s legislative affairs and agency relations activities across federal, state, and local governments.
Our Focus
We advocate for Institute interests, partnered programs, and research funding at every level of government by:
- Pursuing New York City Council discretionary funding
- Submitting federal- and state-level appropriations requests to fund faculty and student work
- Advancing government support for key initiatives led by our faculty and staff
Our Approach
Our approach centers on building and maintaining relationships with the people who shape decisions across legislators and agencies. We regularly meet with congressional aides, city council members and their staff, and other government partners to advocate for the priorities of our community. We collaborate with other divisions across the Institute to shepherd civic engagement initiatives that support the Institute and our partners.
Pratt is also a member of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU), which brings together independent higher education institutions in New York State to strengthen our collective voice.
