Pratt Institute collaborates with organizations of all kinds to advance research, education, and real-world impact. Partnerships can be project-based and time-bound or long-term relationships spanning multiple collaborations.
Ways to work with us
We work with external partners in many ways. We also welcome new ideas and are happy to shape collaborations that don’t fall into a predefined model. Some common types of partnerships are below, but these are not meant to represent every type of partnership that may arise:
- Academic Research: Sponsored research projects (externally funded projects, often through competitive grants), partnerships with Research Centers (both within and outside of the Institute), university collaborations.
- Curricular: Sponsored Studios, K–12 education programs and curriculum development.
- Government/Civic: Civic engagement, capital projects, community-led design projects.
- Industry: Market-ready/R&D&D, internships, career readiness programs.
What to expect
- Discovery: Reach out and tell us about your goals. We’ll assess mutual fit.
- Fact-finding: A short conversation to explore the opportunity.
- Scope & agreement: We define deliverables, timelines, budget, and IP terms in a formal partnership agreement vetted by Pratt’s Legal team.
- Delivery & review: We conduct regular check-ins and a final review to evaluate success and future direction.
