M J Sieira

MJ Sieira is an architect with over twenty years of experience including PDG in Princeton, NJ; DPK&A in Philadelphia, PA; Peter Eisenman Architects in New York City; as well as projects as a sole practitioner. She teaches in the First Professional Master of Architecture program at Pratt Institute, where she has held a number of leadership positions including Faculty Trustee, Peer Review Chair, Dean’s Faculty Council, Academic Advisor for several student groups, Finance Officer for the Academic Senate, and Super-Administrator for the ARPT process. Also part of the leadership team for several architecture accreditation visits, Sieira’s core curriculum coordination positions led to the development of professional courses that received commendations from the NAAB. Internationally she is a founding faculty member of the CA Institute in Santiago de Compostela, an organization dedicated to the research, teaching, and advocacy of modern architecture in the region, work that involves working directly with government bodies and local cultural institutions. A book of interviews with over thirty architects and scholars from this region is forthcoming. Sieira has received numerous awards and grants, many of them with interdisciplinary collaborators. She has presented at multiple national and international conferences, including collaborations with K-12 teachers on the design of educational environments. She also teaches professional seminars on healthcare architecture and her theoretical work on the social and cultural space in the films of Agnès Varda was published in a collection of essays on film and architecture.  Sieira holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in architecture with theater from Yale University.
