Lara Allen is an interdisciplinary artist and educator with a background in performance, experimental music and visual art. She received an MFA in painting from Yale, a CELTA in English language instruction from Cambridge University, and BA from the San Francisco Art Institute where she studied with George Kuchar. 

She is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Humanities and Media Studies and senior staff at the Writing Tutorial Center. In 2018, she began teaching undergraduate and graduate students in Pratt’s Intensive English Program (IEP) and in 2023, she was appointed Academic Coordinator. Before joining Pratt, she taught performance at Bruce High Quality Foundation University – a free, collaborative art school in New York City.
