Jean Hartig

Biography
Jean Hartig is the director of editorial for Prattfolio, the award-winning magazine of Pratt Institute. She joined Pratt in 2016 as senior editor of the magazine.
In 2026, Prattfolio received two CASE Circle of Excellence Awards, for Alumni/General Interest Magazines (Printed Twice a Year) and Publication Improvement, which recognized the collaborative work of Pratt Communications and Marketing’s editorial and creative services teams on the magazine’s 2024 in-house redesign.
During Jean’s time as editor, Prattfolio has also been recognized by The Society of Publication Designers (SPD 52 – Redesign: Entire Issue, SPD 53 – Cover: Fall/Winter 2017, Creative Director Mats Håkansson) and CASE (Best of District II – Alumni/General Interest Magazines, Four-Year Colleges and Universities, and Special Edition: Spring 2022 “Power of Place”).
Jean has a background in magazines, books, and nonprofit communications that includes serving on the editorial team of Poets & Writers; overseeing communications for the running organization Back on My Feet NYC; and copyediting for publishers including Penguin Random House and Abrams. She also worked, prior to coming to Pratt, with alumna artist Barbara Nessim on the production of Nessim’s career-spanning monograph.
