Undergraduate Admissions Information

A student in a machine shop is working with a large drill. They are wearing safety goggles.

Your application is the beginning of a lasting relationship you’ll build with the Pratt community. Amidst the deadlines, essays, and supplemental materials, we’d like to emphasize this above all: we are grateful for your time and effort, and we are eager to get to know you.

First-Time/First-Year Applicants

A classroom scene where a faculty member is looking at the work of a student as the student looks on. There is a second student working at a workstation. There are pieces of art pinned to the walls.

Transfer Applicants

Pratt’s applications open in August each year. If you’re applying to transfer to Pratt from another college, your application deadline and requirements depend on the program you’re applying to join. All programs accept transfer applications for the fall semester, however Architecture, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design, and the AAS degree programs will not accept applications for Spring start. Please note transfer seats are very limited, so applying earlier is suggested.

To apply to transfer to Pratt, submit your application through the Pratt online application.

Associate Degree Students

Pratt’s applications open in August each year. We encourage associate degree applicants to apply by the priority deadlines; however, applications will be accepted after that as long as there is room in the program. The associate degree programs (AOS only) also offer spring admission.

A person wearing a protective face shield and a beige apron is concentrating on operating a lathe in a bright workshop. The lathe is shaping a wooden piece with spiral grooves, and natural light streams through large windows in the background. Various tools and materials are visible on the workbench, contributing to the creative atmosphere of the space.
A woman sits on a light blue block, holding an arch-shaped transparent object with various colored wooden pieces attached to it. She wears a black top with a yellow square and brown pants. The background features abstract art and soft lighting, creating a creative studio atmosphere.

Choosing Your Major

During your application process, you’ll be asked to choose a major. You can learn about all of the programs we have at Pratt on our website and from the work our students are doing. Keep in mind, you’ll also have the opportunity to take classes in other majors and explore your artistic interests in almost any major you choose.

While you may apply as “undecided” if you’re applying to the Schools of Art and Design, we advise against it. You cannot pursue architecture, construction management, writing, digital arts, or critical and visual studies if you apply undecided. Though we do our best to accommodate, we also can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to select your first-choice major in the second year if you’ve applied undecided.
