Eric and Jane Nord Family Endowed Internship Fund

The Eric and Jane Nord Family Endowed Internship Fund provides financial support to Pratt Institute students pursuing unpaid or low-paid internships across all industries, majors, and degree fields. This fund aims to reduce financial barriers to experiential learning and help students gain valuable professional experience. Whether your internship is in-person, remote, hybrid, local, national, or international, you may be eligible to receive support. Who Can Apply

  • Undergraduate students in all majors and degree programs
  • Students pursuing unpaid or low-paid internships (compensated below minimum wage)
  • Students participating in credit or non-credit internships 
  • Students whose internships meet the site eligibility requirements (see below)

Note: You do not need to have a secured internship at the time of application. However, you will need to provide an internship offer by the specified date. This ensures that funds can be distributed in a timely manner and within the fiscal year.

How to Apply

  1. Log in to Handshake: Access your account at Handshake.
  2. Search for the Application: Look for the “Nord Family Endowed Internship Fund” application.
  3. Prepare Your Materials: Ensure you have a one-page resume, an internship offer letter or detailed description, and your responses to the application questions ready.
  4. Submit Your Application: Complete all required fields and upload your documents before the deadline.
  5. Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email once your application has been successfully submitted.

CCPD will offer workshops, one-on-one appointments, and FAQ sessions throughout the summer to help you with the application process and answer any questions. Check Handshake for dates and to register.

Applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee, which includes staff from the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD); the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and internship coordinators from various departments.

The committee evaluates each application based on the following criteria:

  • Motivation & Career Connection
  • Skill Development & Career Readiness
  • Financial Need
  • Quality of Application
  • Context & Additional Insight

While we encourage all eligible students to apply, funding is limited and not every application can be awarded.

Tax Information

The stipend is considered taxable income and may be subject to federal and state tax regulations. We recommend consulting a tax or financial advisor if you have any questions regarding your individual tax situation.
