Taka Sarui is an architect and an educator based in New York City.  She holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from Dartmouth College and an M.Arch from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University.   She has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Parsons New School and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at The City College of New York.  She is deeply committed to humanitarian design and has participated in Global Studio, initiated by the UN Millennium Project Task Force, and spent time mapping the refugee experience along the Thailand-Burma border. She is keenly interested in food networks and sustainable food distribution and has ongoing research, in particular as it relates to urban environments.  She is currently the principle of design and development office MiYuKu LLC.
