Prof. Annie Coombs
Visiting Assistant Professor
Biography
Annie Coombs, RA, AIA, is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt’s Undergraduate School of Architecture. She is a principal at Siris Coombs Architecture, a studio that works beyond traditional realms of architecture, at scales small and large, for individuals and communities alike. She is also Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for the YMCA of the Seven Council Fires in South Dakota.
Previously she has worked with Diller Scofidio + Renfro where she participated in the design and construction of a diverse group of cultural, educational and residential projects – including the Shed at Hudson Yards (NY), the redevelopment of Columbia University’s Medical Campus (NY) and the redevelopment of Lincoln Center (NY). She has also worked in the offices of LTL Architects and FXFowle Architects.
Annie is a Registered Architect in the state of New York and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Publications and Projects
Annie co-authored a research project ‘Post-Reservation’, which researches and visualizes housing, infrastructure and economy on the Lakota reservations in South Dakota. Her research was displayed in an exhibition, ‘Native States of America’, at Columbia University in the spring of 2012. In 2021, Annie co-edited a report, ‘The Lakota Nation and the History of American Colonization’, for the Architecture League’s ‘American Roundtable’.
Separately, her work on gender dynamics in the architecture field was presented at the 1st Congress of Architecture & Gender Research in Spain in 2014.
Her work on the Cheyenne River Reservation was recently published in the New York Times, Tiny Homes Aim to Address Shortage on Lakota Reservation.
