Visiting Associate Professor
Dr. Paul Mankiewicz received his doctoral degree from the City University of New York/New York Botanical Garden Joint Program in Plant Sciences. He is the founding director of the Gaia Institute and has served in this role since 1987. Under his direction, the Gaia Institute has taken on a number of challenging problems in applied and theoretical biogeochemistry and ecology, from urban watershed restoration to landfill and mine remediation. Solutions to these problems in all cases involve the transformation of elements of the waste stream into ecological resources.
