Biography
Mike Enright is a visual artist and independent animation filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. His body of animated work spans nearly three decades and has most recently been celebrated in cinemas at festivals such as The Woodstock Film Festival and The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival. His work has also been seen in gallery settings and at public video installations locally in the NYC area and as far away as New Mexico and South Korea.
Since 2003, Mr. Enright has taught the art of animation to students of various ages from children’s workshops, through higher education, to professionals returning to enhance their studies.
For over 20 years he has worked to bring independent and international animation to his local communities. Throughout the 2000’s he worked as a programmer for The Philly Film Festival and the Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, annually curating short film anthologies. For the past four seasons he co-curated the New Francophone Shorts program for L’Alliance NYC’s growing Animation First Festival. He has been an active member of ASIFA East, supporting local animation since taking residence in Brooklyn in the mid 2000’s.
He holds an MFA in Experimental Animation from The California Institute of the Arts (2000) and a BFA in Media Arts/ Animation from The University of the Arts (1995).
