Biography
Joynisha Sumpter is a Learning Access Center Tutor and former Visiting Instructor at Pratt Institute, where she taught Unity Game Development from 2021 to 2024. She is a game developer, software engineer, and technical artist specializing in game design and development, Unity programming, and emerging artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.

With over a decade of experience in the games industry, Sumpter served in several key engineering and production roles at High 5 Games, including Lead Software Engineer, Software Engineer in Tools, and Senior Technical Production Artist. Her industry background also spans work as an Associate Technical Producer at Viacom International and a QA Tester at Kaos Studios on AAA titles such as Frontlines: Fuel of War and Homefront. Beyond her industry tenure, Sumpter is an independent developer who has created and released her own web and mobile titles, including InkFlow, Trivia Gauntlet, Rudolph’s Spacecapes, and Melody’s Aviary: End the Silence.

Sumpter holds a Master of Fine Arts in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Pratt Institute. By combining a rich foundation in spatial and visual design with extensive technical execution ranging from game engine mechanics to building custom RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) AI models, she actively mentors students in demystifying complex programming concepts, bridging technical literacy with creative design, and exploring the future of interactive media.
