Professor Jeffrey Blanchard, who is also the academic director of Cornell in Rome, has taught urban design, architecture, and art in Renaissance and Baroque Rome for more than twenty years.

Blanchard won a Rome Prize Fellowship to the American Academy (1978–79) and has resided in Rome ever since, dedicating himself principally to teaching and academic administration for American study programs. He began teaching courses in Renaissance and Baroque architecture and art for Cornell in Rome 1988. Other institutional affiliations in Rome have included the University of Notre Dame, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Blanchard studied the history of art and architecture at Stanford University (BA '73), the Università di Firenze (Fulbright Fellow '74), and Yale University (MPhil '77), specializing in the Italian Renaissance.
