Jason Urban is an artist, writer, and teacher based in Brooklyn, NY. His work has been featured in numerous venues and publications both nationally and internationally. Additionally, he has taught at a number of other schools including Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Tyler School of Art (Temple University), Maryland Institute College of Art, and Bucknell University.
From 2008 to 2015 as a supplement to his research and teaching, Urban co-wrote and co-edited Printeresting.org, the thinking person’s favorite online resource for interesting printmaking miscellany. In 2011, Creative Capital | Warhol Foundation awarded him and his two collaborators an ArtsWriters Grant.
Urban joined the faculty of Pratt Institute’s Undergraduate Communication Design department in 2019. He teaches a range of courses including Independent Publishing, Speculative Publishing, Post Artifact Books, Image As Communication, Dynamic Imagery, and Integrated VisCom 2: New Forms.
