Gabrielle Vitollo
Visiting Assistant Professor

Biography
Gabrielle Vitollo is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Drawing Department at Pratt Institute and Adjunct Professor in the Fine Arts & Design Department at Montclair State University. Vitollo is a painter, sculptor, and educator based in Brooklyn, NY, whose practice integrates fine art, education, and environmental advocacy.
Vitollo received a German Fulbright Research Fellowship in Berlin, where the work shifted from figurative painting to abstract forms inspired by geological flow, decorative armor, and visual patterns in nature. Vitollo has also been awarded a DAAD Scholarship, the Martin Wong Scholarship, and two Elizabeth Greenshields Grants. Residencies include Yaddo, the Baccarat Crystal Factory, Fountainhead, and the YoungArts Olafur Eliasson Workshop, filmed by HBO.
Vitollo’s work has been exhibited at Fredericks & Freiser Gallery, the State Museum of Pennsylvania, the Friedhof Museum Berlin, the Knockdown Center, 80WSE Gallery, Miami’s Margulies Collection, Kunstpunkt Berlin, and Iceland’s Listasafn Arnesinga Art Museum. Recent public sculpture commissions include Marvelous Mussels at Sperlak Sculpture Gardens and Exoskeletal Odyssey at MakerPark, both large-scale projects accompanied by programming that emphasized urban ecology education and nature journaling.
Vitollo’s teaching and research emphasize rethinking value systems within the visual arts and the potential of art to cultivate environmentally and socially conscious communities. At Pratt Institute, Vitollo equips students with a rigorous foundation in observational drawing while encouraging experimentation and critical engagement with the intersections of art, ecology, and cultural responsibility.
