A self-taught programmer with a background in English Literature, Filipa Calado (she/her) uses digital tools to study language. She explores methods like text analysis and machine learning to think critically about the ways that technology transforms linguistic expressions of sex, gender, and sexuality into computable data. She enjoys writing about queer literature, reality TV, and the python programming language. Most recently, she trains Small Language Models (SLMs) to study popular discourses of gender in the US. Her coding projects and teaching materials are published on her github profile, under gofilipa. Her coding projects and teaching materials are published on her github profile, under gofilipa.
