Christie Shin
Visiting Professor
Biography
Christie Shin is a Visiting Professor in the graduate master’s program at Pratt Institute’s School of Information, and a Professor of Creative Technology & Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY). A design educator with more than three decades of experience as an educator, creative consultant, and design director, her work explores the intersection of AI, creativity, and digital product design.
Her research centers on empowering design education with AI and on Creative Intelligence, a framework for how designers collaborate with intelligent systems across ideation, prototyping, and product development. Shin is a 2026 Google Higher Ed Faculty AI Fellow (Inaugural Cohort), a Founding Member of the Figma Educator Advisory Board, and an ElevenLabs Impact Professor. At FIT, she introduced AI-Assisted Design courses in 2025 and co-developed the AI-Assisted Design Minor. She is a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities.
She is also Partner and Design Director at Cynda Media Lab, where her award-winning work has earned more than 60 national and international design awards.
