Chris Hu
Visiting Assistant Professor
Biography
chris hu is a neurodivergent, queer, trans/nonbinary designer, educator, and martial artist trained in landscape architecture and architecture. They were born and raised in Lenapehoking (New York City, NY). Through collaborative workshops and games, chris brings joy and teamwork into design and learning processes. A part of their teamwork in the field includes organizing within the Design as Protest Collective and Dark Matter U. They also practice game design, calligraphy, cooking, and martial arts, all of which are grounded in Chinglish stories, tasty ancestral foods, and care for all people and beings.
They have worked in both architecture and landscape architecture offices, and have taught in the Industrial Design Department at Rhode Island School of Design, as well as Cornell University College of Agricultural Sciences, and Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. Currently, they teach core first year classes at Pratt. They hold an MLA from Harvard GSD and BArch from The City College of New York.
