Biography
Anna Philip is a Swedish-born Fashion Designer who first arrived in New York City in the early 1990s, after graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. For more than 20 years, she has worked in all aspects of design, most recently as a menswear designer, but also in women’s and children’s wear. Anna’s breadth of experience spans from original concept development to final production, and includes pattern making, product design and development, and creative direction. Moreover, she has liaised with factories, mills, and vendors locally, domestically, and internationally.
At Polo Ralph Lauren, Anna was Senior Design Director of The Men’s knitwear department, the largest division of the company. In addition to Ralph Lauren, Anna has also worked for Calvin Klein, Marithe´ & Francois Girbaud, and Kenneth Cole. Anna applies her extensive knowledge and experience to guiding her students toward a realistic approach to bringing their concepts to life.
Anna has always loved teaching, both in the classroom and among teams of fellow professionals.In 2013 she began teaching at Parsons School of Design and FIT. She immediately felt that she had found her calling and has been teaching12 ever since. She cherishes the creative process and finds it extremely rewarding to support her students through that practice. In addition to teaching, Anna still works as a consultant in the Fashion Industry, focusing on providing designer startups with guidance to bring a product from its initial idea through final production.
