Biography
International exhibitions and performances include Or Gallery (Vancouver), Circuit (Lausanne), Tidens Krav (Oslo), Högkvarteret (Stockholm); New York venues include Ramiken Crucible, Swiss Institute Contemporary Art, Bowery Ballroom, Irving Plaza, Terminal 5, Museum of the Moving Image; as lead animator and sound designer, her work with director David Levine includes Dissolution (2022), the first narrative hologram displayed in a museum, premiered at the Jeu de Paume, Paris. From founding Merkx&Gwynne, a collaborative framework for interdisciplinary experimentation in group-exhibition-cum-music-video-set production, in 2012, with exhibitions at Shoot the Lobster, Bureau (New York), BRIC Arts Media, and NADA (New York); Merkx has worked in traditional and experimental opera, in scenic, video, and animation design; ongoing work spans scholarly production, spatial audio, volumetric cinema, collection, and new opera.
