DEGREE-SEEKING STUDENTS: All incoming degree-seeking F-1 international students are required to attend one of four OIA Mandatory Info Sessions offered on Zoom over Summer. You are an incoming degree-seeking student if you have an initial I-20 from Pratt, and intend to earn a degree at Pratt, including: New students, Transfer students, Munson students coming to Pratt, and students returning to Pratt from a leave of absence or readmission.
The OIA Mandatory Info Session for degree-seeking students is held four times. You can attend the one that works best for you. We recommend attending earlier rather than later! Some students enjoy the session and choose to attend multiple times, but you only need to attend one.
Our 2026 schedule will be posted here by June 1. Make sure to check your Pratt email for this schedule and other OIA offerings throughout the summer.
Why is this session required? Because you need to understand:
- Requirements for your legal immigration status
- Going through U.S. immigration and the OIA Arrival Check-in process
- Employment restrictions and options during your studies
- How you will interact with Office of International Affairs (OIA)
- Resources for a smooth onboarding experience
- Answers to your specific questions during the Q&A
Important notes:
- We start with important info; please arrive on time
- Make sure you use the time zone converter as needed
- Attendance at the entire session is mandatory
NON-DEGREE STUDENTS: Incoming non-degree students will have separate individual sessions for your special group.
Non-degree students include:
- Students attending Munson
- Pre-College
- SCPS Certificate
- Undergraduate Exchange students
Non-degree students do not need to attend the above sessions for degree-seeking students, as some information is different for you. We will communicate about your group’s session to you directly during the summer.
