Please find important info below for international students who are relocating from Pratt Munson to Pratt Brooklyn.
For international students relocating from Pratt Munson in Utica to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, you have to request a transfer I-20 in your OIA Student Portal. You will receive instructions in early spring about requesting your transfer I-20. Please see some details here.
Check your visa expiration date (in your passport). If it has not expired by your travel date, you can use the same F-1 visa. If it will expire and you leave the U.S., you must renew it in the place of your citizenship before you travel back to the U.S. If your visa expires and you do not leave the U.S., you are allowed to stay in the U.S. with an expired F-1 student visa as long as you have a valid I-20.
You can travel in and out of the U.S. during the summer before starting at Pratt Brooklyn with your new transfer I-20. You just have to make sure you have the new transfer I-20 with you when you return. Transfer students are not limited to re-entering the US within 30 days of the program start date on the I-20; transfer students may enter the US at any point between programs and do not need a travel signature for the first re-entry. You can also stay in the U.S. if you do not plan to travel.
Unfortunately, we cannot authorize CPT for you in the summer before coming to Pratt, so you cannot do an internship in the summer in the U.S. The fall semester is the first time you will be eligible for CPT.
If you are interested in taking summer courses at Pratt, please email Undergraduate Advising at adadvise@pratt.edu to get special permission.
You can find pre-arrival information here, which includes an Arrival Guide and FYI learning content. Check your Pratt email for important information from Pratt OIA starting in spring and all summer for information about pre-arrival resources, Arrival Check-in reporting requirements, international orientation events and more!
