If you intend to continue your studies at Pratt Brooklyn, you will need to request a Transfer I-20. Your release date of the Munson I-20 will be the day after the last day of the semester at Munson. Email iss@prattmunson.edu to confirm that we will transfer your SEVIS record from Pratt Munson to Pratt Brooklyn.
Shortly after the last day of the semester, you will receive an invitation sent to your Pratt email to access the OIA Student Portal and request your Transfer I-20. We cannot start the I-20 process until after the semester due to the way SEVIS I-20s work.
To prepare, please review our I-20 financial statement requirements and gather documentation. You will need to upload a picture of your passport, your financial statement(s), and an affidavit of support from your sponsor (if applicable) to request the Transfer I-20. You must submit your I-20 request within the 60-day grace period following the end of the semester. When we issue your Transfer I-20 it will say, “Transfer Pending – Pratt at Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute” at the top of page 1 under Form Issue Reason. This is normal and means that the transfer process is working. No further action is needed.
Later, you will also need to attend the OIA Mandatory Info Session, which will be offered several times in the summer, and complete OIA Arrival Check-in before the Fall semester begins.
If you travel in the summer, you will need to present the Transfer I-20 from Pratt Brooklyn to re-enter the U.S. You do not need a travel signature for the first re-entry. You only need to apply for a new F-1 visa if your F-1 visa has expired and you are traveling out of the U.S. You do not need to have a valid F-1 visa to remain in the U.S.
