Whether creating new worlds in words and images, hand-binding DIY zines, or helping library patrons find resources, Pratt alumni across disciplines bring books into the hands of readers. James Kwan ’14, Maeve Norton ’15, Anna Sergeeva ’22, and Adrian Shirk ’11 spoke with Prattfolio about their multifaceted careers as authors, illustrators, designers, and independent publishers.
“When I make children’s books, I approach them like little movies.”

“Often an agent’s role is to see many things in the work that the author hasn’t even seen yet.”

“What motivates me, and is also the most rewarding part of the job, is remembering that every book is some kid’s favorite book ever.”

“I’m constantly trying to support and uplift what other people are doing.”
