“The Black Cyborg” explores themes of Afrofuturism, black survival, and what revolution truly means. What does the world look like for the black diaspora as technology advances, since that has always been a tool used to oppress us? This cyborg has been built to be a symbol of black capitalism and diminishing and flattening the black diaspora to be digestible. My cyborg refuses that framework and redefines and reconstructs itself into this Divine Machinery, a symbol of revolution and a future for black individuals. There is a necessary and healthy self-love that black individuals need in the face of an oppressive system that seeks to turn individuals into dehumanized, cog-like machines.
