Steph Silva, El Futuro y El Alma, 2026

This collection explores a sub-genre of fiction known as Latino-futurism (Futurismo Latino). Science fiction oftentimes is an extreme representation of political and racial climates but as these extremes become less than allegorical, it makes more sense to make these connections more present. There is a lot of hand-made work in this collection to take back the time and labor that is so often exploited. To show a vision of a post-colonial future where Latin American people are able to get back in touch with ancestral roots and put their labor back into their communities to build something beautiful.
