Siyu (Cyril) Cao, Too Much Love, 2026

This collection explored emotional attachment people form with everyday objects and how these relationships shape memory and identity. Inspired by Katja Kemnitz’s photography series Too Much Love, Cyril examines how tenderness physically reshapes objects and transforms wear into memory. Drawing from childhood garment details including puff sleeves, peter pan collars, stripes and polka dots, alongside intimate daily objects such as dolls, hair clips and keychains, she reinterprets these elements through shifts in scale, repetition and layering. Referencing the idea of a sensory box, her garments function as emotional containers, offering protection, grounding and quiet intimacy.
