This collection explores the transformation of donated garments as an allegory for growing up and awakening to embodiment and womanhood. It centers on the threshold between being and becoming, where identity shifts and memory leaves its trace on the form. Drawing from childhood memories of my mother braiding my hair, the braiding is a metaphor for care, connection, and change. Strips of donated T-shirts are braided into textiles that carry the touch and history of many hands. Through deconstruction, weaving, and silkscreen printing, repurposed garments are transformed into new forms. By revealing seams, wear, and repair, the work challenges disposable fashion and positions clothing as an archive of memory and lived experience.
