Love, Opal, Opal Sheedy, 2026
Opal Sheedy’s collection titled “Love, Opal” reflects on their experience working in senior living, specifically their time with memory impaired residents. Dementia and Alzheimer’s are conditions that fragment memories, reality, and identity, with each affected individual carrying a different experience. Opal uses the lens of fashion design to communicate the fragility of memory, and the fading of it with time. Looks one through five are individually inspired by personal connections in Opal’s life, from elder friends, grandparents, and adoptive family, and their personal experiences with memory. Look six is inspired by Opal themself, and the concept of being a blank canvas, gathering memories and stories through others, which shape them and their identity just as much as their own memories. This collection is a sentimental tribute to those who have left an imprint on Opal’s canvas.
