Exploring MohenjoDaro in Virtual Reality

By Jack Young, Uzma Z Rizvi, and Jacob Welch

Through these two virtual reality experiences, users will be able to move between houses and lanes of the 3rd millennium BCE, world heritage site of MohenjoDaro (Pakistan). These households are captured through LIDAR photogrammetry providing a phenomenological experience of the ancient city.

One VR experience will also include augmented reality, with the inclusion of three dimensional artifacts as well. The other VR experience will be a 360 video presentation of walking through the site.

A wide pathway runs between tall, ancient brick walls, which display various shades of brown and gray. The sun shines brightly from above, illuminating the scene. In the foreground, part of an individual with dark hair can be seen, holding a device. The setting suggests an archaeological site or historical ruins in a desert-like environment.
